Description

A vibrant and refreshing beverage made with butterfly pea flowers, honey, and lemon. Perfect for a tropical escape in every sip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 ml (2 cups) water
  • 2 tablespoons dried butterfly pea flowers
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, sliced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Boil Water: Start by boiling the water in a saucepan. If using ginger, add it now. Boiling is essential to extract the full flavor and color from the butterfly pea flowers.
  2. Steep the Flowers: Once the water reaches a rolling boil, remove from heat. Add the dried butterfly pea flowers and let them steep for about 10 minutes for a vibrant color and infused flavor.
  3. Strain the Mixture: Strain the mixture to remove the flowers if you prefer a clear drink. Alternatively, leave them in for a rustic presentation.
  4. Add Flavorings: Stir in honey, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar. Watch as the brilliant blue turns into an alluring purple shade.
  5. Cool and Serve: Serve hot in a mug for a comforting experience, or let it cool and pour over ice for a refreshing beverage.

Notes

Adjust the amount of honey to suit your taste. Start with half a teaspoon and add more if needed. For a stronger ginger flavor, grate the ginger instead of slicing it.Make a larger batch and store it in the fridge for up to a week. Reheat or serve over ice when ready to enjoy.
